Faculty/Staff FAQs
What should I do if I am concerned I have COVID-19?
Employees concerned they have COVID-19 or other respiratory illnesses should take a COVID-19 test and consult with their healthcare provider for direction on care or evaluation and appropriate isolation protocols, if necessary. You should stay home, reduce your contact with others and consider wearing a mask if you are feeling unwell or test positive for COVID-19.
Do I need to report a positive COVID-19 diagnosis to the University?
No. The COVID-19 reporting form is no longer in use, and members of the campus community are no longer required to report a positive diagnosis to the University. If you are feeling unwell, you should not report to work. Stay home and contact your healthcare provider if necessary. Employees should notify their supervisors, and faculty should notify their students and department chairs.
Are face masks required on campus?
No. Face masks are not required on campus. However, anyone who prefers to wear one to protect themselves and/or others from the spread of germs should feel free to do so.
Will the University sponsor booster and vaccine clinics?
UNC Charlotte offers clinics throughout the year for flu vaccines and COVID-19 booster vaccines. Vaccines are also available by appointment at the Student Health Center. Learn more and schedule a vaccine.
As a faculty member, what should I do if one of my students reports a COVID-19 diagnosis?
Students should not attend class or report to on-campus work assignments if they are sick. Students who test positive for COVID-19 are encouraged to reach out to their instructors to alert them of their absence and to make arrangements to make up their work, just as they would if they were ill under any other circumstance. Faculty are strongly encouraged to be accommodating and to work with students when they must be absent from class due to illness.
How will the University stay in contact with me regarding health and safety during the semester?
The Niner Nation Cares website will be updated with information regarding health and safety information. Faculty and staff should read Niner Insider daily for the latest updates.
